January 2026 Update: FAQ Expansion, Glossary Launch, and Events Infrastructure

We’ve been hard at work improving Nostr.co.uk, and today we’re excited to share a significant content update that makes understanding and participating in the Nostr ecosystem easier than ever.

What’s New

Expanded FAQ: From 12 to 58 Questions

Our FAQ page has grown substantially, now covering eight comprehensive categories:

  • Basics (10 questions) - Fundamental concepts for newcomers
  • Identity & Keys (8 questions) - Understanding your Nostr identity
  • Zaps & Lightning (8 questions) - Payments and tipping explained
  • Privacy & Security (8 questions) - Staying safe on Nostr
  • Clients & Apps (8 questions) - Choosing and using Nostr applications
  • Relays (8 questions) - How the network infrastructure works
  • UK-specific (4 questions) - Nostr in the British context

Each question is written with beginners in mind while providing enough depth for intermediate users to learn something new.

New Glossary: 64 Essential Terms

The new Glossary provides quick definitions for every important Nostr concept. Terms are organized by category:

  • Relay - WebSocket connections, relay policies, NIP-11

Events Infrastructure

We’ve built a complete events system to help you discover Nostr-related conferences, meetups, and community gatherings:

  • 8 events currently listed including Bitfest UK, FOSDEM, Oslo Freedom Forum
  • Region filtering - Find events in UK, Europe, or internationally
  • Upcoming/Past separation - See what’s next and what you missed
  • Event submission - Organisers can submit their events

The UK Nostr community continues to grow, with regular meetups in London and the annual Bitfest UK conference in Manchester.

Accessibility Improvements

We’ve added prefers-reduced-motion support throughout the site. Users with vestibular disorders or motion sensitivity preferences will see static versions of animations.

HowTo Schema for Guides

Three of our most popular guides now include HowTo schema markup:

This helps AI assistants and search engines understand the step-by-step nature of these guides.

Client Directory

All 15 client profiles have been verified and updated:

  • Damus - Added Notedeck desktop app and Purple membership details
  • Nos - Added cross-protocol features (Mastodon/Bluesky bridges)
  • Primal - Confirmed January 2026 release notes
  • Coracle - Added “Nostr, the easy way” positioning
  • noStrudel - Updated “jack of all trades” feature set
  • Amethyst - Enhanced Android client description

Relay Directory

All 21 relays verified operational with updated information:

  • nostr.wine - Major update with regional mirrors, full-text search, NIP-42 auth
  • nos.lol - Fixed URL, marked as featured relay
  • Verification via ecosystem research

Five new NIPs documented:
